I was calculating how much hard drive space I had and found.

Everything under "add and remove programs" except windows update, Roxio and Bluetooth software

Add & remove programs added up to - 1.01GB
Roxio and Bluetooth probably use- 2GB (I'm guessing because windows didn't specify)
Windows update- 4GB (I'm guessing again because windows didn't specify)

Documents- 1.12GB
P2P program- 7.583GB
P2P Downloads in Progress- 17GB (when completed)
Music- 415MB
Pictures- 2MB
Desktop- 202MB
Total=39.72GB

My total Hard drive=80GB

If you upgraded to Vista, most likely your computer doesn't have enough resources (CPU speed, memory, hard drive space, video card, sound card, etc) to run Vista.

I just got Windows Vista 3 days ago, and have been installing files and putting music on it.

However, right now, my disk space usage is 60 gigs. I checked my folders within my C Drive: Windows (7gig), User (28gig), Program Files (1.6gig).

That adds up to around 35 gigs, not 60 gigs. What else is using up my disk space? I only have 115gigs on my hard drive, so more than half has been used up in the first 3 days, and I have no idea what is using up 25 of those 60 gigs.

I am running Vista business on my laptop and have a 40gb drive. 37.2 total available drive space. I'm showing 12.4gb available space. However, when I viewed the properties of all the drives folders the total "used" disk space adds up to 14.37....

I use window washer from when i had XP, but when i look at my hard drive's free space, it keeps decreasing. where else should i look for temporary files? and where do the windows update install files go now? my PC is lagging because of this.i...

I purchased a new computer a couple weeks ago:
HP a1700n
AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ dual core processor
250 GB hard drive
1 GB ram (expandable to 4 GB)
Windows Vista Home Premium

My problem is with the hard drive space. 250 GB is more than enough space for me, but the problem is that it's started disappearing for no reason. When I got it, it had around 230 GB which was fine, and after I transferred my files/programs from my old computer it had around 200-210 GB. Well lately it's just disappeared without me even saving anything or downloading hardly anything. It went from 200 to 193 to 187 to 183 somehow.
