After Effects 7 + Vista

Hi there, first off let me say I'm sorry I wasnt sure which forum to post this in.

Recently I installed Adobe After Effects 7 on my new Vista machine. It seems to run just fine until I attempt to import a file to the program.
It then brings up an error saying "After Effects: Out of memory. (1k requested) (23 :: 40)"
I have 2GB of DDR2 Ram, when Im running After Effects my pc says there is about 1.6GB of RAM free.

Any ideas why this might not be working?
Any help would be brillant

Upgrade from 1GB to 2GB DDR2 667

Got a question to ask. My vista score 4.5 on memory with 2* 512 ddr2 ram. Today i just bought 2*1GB DDR2 ram 667 and it seems that after update my score it still at 4.5 on memory. Why? Btw, my notebook is using 950GMA.
The big question is why 2GB VS 1GB i still got the same score? Even update twice also same. Both only 4.5 leh..Anyone care to explain why?
Also done deleting all the file in Data Store. After running perfomace assement again, it still gave me 4.5 on my memory. Same stuff. Wonder why.. The only different upgrading from 1Gb to 2Gb in Vista Performance Index is Graphic section. Previouly when running on 1GB it score 3.2 and after upgrading to 2GB it now shows 3.3. A mere + 0.1 on graphic? Maybe this is because it's shared ram in GMA 950.

Random Vista crashes/lock ups in games

Well I have encountered a bit of an issue when running certain games, even ones like C&C3 that are Vista compatible. At random times, and its not always frequent it can be a day or two, or then happen twice or three times in one day I will get a total lock up during the game where the sound playing is stuck repeating and the screen freezes with odd colors and such. Earlier today I had one and was able to get out but it was the blue screen of death dump.

My comp is a recent purchase here are my specs

Gateway GT5426E
AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ 2.6GHZ
Nvidia Geforce 7600 GS

Vista Home Premium Locks up during Install

I have been trying to (unsuccessfully) install an OEM version of Home Premium onto some brand new hardware. Everytime it gets to completing installation, it freezes and goes no further. I have left it sitting for a few hours in case something was happening behind the scenes but no luck.
When rebooting, windows detects a problem and offers to repair, which also fails.
Hardware is as follows
Foxconn 945G7MC-KRS2HV mainboard (latest bios installed)
Pentium D 3.4 Ghz 800Mhz
Apacer DDR2 Ram 1Gb
Seagate 250Gb Sata HDD
ATI X1600Pro Graphics
Lite-on 18x DL DVDRW
