Vista Won't Boot :(

Don't ask... but I've managed to compress the partition of my HD with my Vista install on (by checking the little box on the HD properties in Vista). So now whenever I try and boot up I get an error message saying
"BOOTMGR Compressed, press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart"

I've already tried the stuff a google search brings up ie:

Win Vista DVD > Command Prompt>
C:
expand bootmgr temp
attrib bootmgr -s -r -h
del bootmgr
ren temp bootmgr
attrib bootmgr -a +s +r +h

But I still get the error after i've done that. I've tried doing that for every archived file in the C: root directory and that still doesn't help. I've downloaded Hirens Boot CD and tried a load of tools on there (including zeroing my MBR and then getting windows vista to fix it with its auto-repair feature) and i still get the same message!

why is my toshiba satellite a135 crashing

have you defraged? Open your task manager and see what's running (ctrl + alt + del)

RRT (Remove Restrictions Tool) (exe)

RRT (Remove Restrictions Tool) v.1.0When I reboot a previously infected computer, I usually be faced with the same thing every time; the virus made some system restrictions in order to make himself hidden, those restrictions are usually the following: Disable Ctrl+Alt+Del >> so the user can't see the virus and the other running applications. Disable Folder Options >> so the user can't set the option to show hidden files. Disable Regedit >> so the user can't see what is going on in system startup. Unfortunately, AV Softwares have nothing to do with these restrictions and do nothing to re-enable them.

Vista Hangs for a long time

My PC Config:
Athlon XP 3000+, 1 GB RAM, 7900GT, 160 GB HDD

I installed XP first on C drive and then Vista on D drive as dual boot
Everything was working fine till i changed the page file settings to 2400 - 2800 MB on a non-system partition
Vista started to hang and mouse cursor was moving once for 5-6 seconds and so on
Its happens frequently but not always
Even Ctrl+Alt+Del did not work, I had to restart the base unit to get through this

Anyone had similar problem and want to know if its something to do with page file and if there is any fix for it

Ctrl-Alt-Del

When pressing the Ctrl-Alt-Del command in Windows Vista Business, it pulls up the full screen option menu as it does in Windows XP Pro (very annoying) instead of going directly to Task Manager like in Windows XP. Is there a way you can make Ctrl-Alt-Del go straight to Task Manager in Business/Professional?

Starting Vista Problems

Hey everyone.

Every single time I start up my computer and Vista loads everything is fine. When it loads the desktop it would seem to be fine expect I can not Click on the start button nor some other things unless i Ctrl Alt Del, Then everything runs normally.

One other problem I'm facing is when I run my computer for a while the task bar freaks out. Hard to explain what it does but everything is unclickable, nor you can see it. When clicking on the windows start orb it will pop up but you can see nothing. I have to Alt / CTRL / DEL and restart to fix the problem.

The faded screen comes up. I had to press Ctrl-Alt-Del a few times to make it disappear?

Alternatively is there anyway to get rid of it without getting through it?

Thanks.

Disable Task Manager

Hi,

I have written an application that child-proofs an XP computer. One of the many things it does is to disable the Task Manager.

To do this in XP, I make two registry changes (Which I change back when the app is exited)...

CODE
'//Change the LogonType for windows to the Welcome Screen (this helps block the Ctrl-Alt-Del)
My.Computer.Registry.SetValue("HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon", "logonType", 1)
CODE
'//Disasble Task Manager
