We recently purchased a PC with Vista pre-installed (and would really like to have XP again). Among the many problems that we are having is an issue with Vista's sidebar. For the account created during installation and set up, all is well. However, whenever we add a new user account, the sidebar gadgets never update properly. For instance, the RSS Feeds never update. The headlines and dates that were originally shown whenever first activating the gadget are still the only headlines shown. The weather also doesn't update properly, though it does change sometimes. It just seems to be quite a few hours behind, even after logging out and logging back in. This still occurs even after shutting down the gadget and then adding it again to the sidebar. It always shows information that is wrong and not updated. The other account's sidebar works fine. The RSS Feeds are constantly updated, and the weather is always correct. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Vista, but the results are still the same. The account created during installation works fine, while the other account doesn't.

Since last night Vista gets as far as the end of the splash screen (with the progress bar and copyright message) and then restarts. The last thing I did was to try and install some HP Printer software which wasn't compatible with Vista - although it took an age during the install before it told me this and promptly crashed so I couldn't exit - once I'd restarted, this problem happened.
Any ideas how to resolve it? I've popped the Vista DVD in and did a "Repair" but it's done no good. Last good configuration didn't work, I can't even get into Safe Mode as it restarts at exactly the same point!

Ive upgraded XP to Vista Ultimate and since doing so have noticed the hard disk of the PC is in far more use now.
Previously I could only really hear it when it was doing specific read/writing, now it seems to be constantly read/writing even when the PC is idle.
Any ideas why this may be, doesnt sound normal to me?
PC Spec: E6000 d2c processor, 2gb Ram.
