Alright, I really want this fixed so I'm going to try my best to get into great detail and hopefully one of you on this forum can help me!

Problem: My CD/DVD drives aren't working. Nothing is being read when a CD is inserted!

Things I tried consist of going to the list of hardware and checking for updated drivers - none found. It says that they're up to date. There is a small "EXLAMATION POINT" by both of those drives in the list.

Even when I go into my computer, they are not read.

I've tried switching one out and installing that. It doesn't work!

I just installed Windows Vista on my computer (clean install). I tried putting in the CD to install the ipod drivers, but as soon as the installshield window shows up in the taskbar nothing else happens. What do I need to do to get my ipod working with Vista? Thanks for the help!

New Built Computer

Hi All,

(preface: I have exp switching out hardware, upgradings software and configuring BIOS)

In the past, I've just ordered my computers from Dell and the like and upgraded hardware as I went on. Seeing limitations here, I chose this time to build my own computer. So far, most of the parts have arrived and just waiting for Vista and the motherboard.

Having never done it from the ground up:

Once all the hardware is installed, is this as simple as setting the DVD to be primary boot in BIOS and putting the Vista DVD in the drive?

In past upgrades/formats of new harddisks, I needed a boot disk with CD drivers yet I've seen no Vista boot disks out there.
