I have my machine set up in dual boot with XP and Vista both on their own partitions on my boot drive, but I have all the iTunes music on a slave drive, and need to know how to move everything across into vista.
Hi all,My other pc (XP) is having nightmares. my only working pc is this vista one. can i make a boot CD for the XP macine using vista on this one? I don't have a floppy on this computer y'see.

Of concern include drive letters, boot loader capability, system restore etc. Any answers deeply appreciated... you'd save me the trouble of research plus trial and error.

I had XP installed, installed Vista on top of it and had a nice dual boot setup for a while. Had to install a fresh copy of XP (formattted drive C) (Vista resides on E), and now have lost the dual boot configuration. I followed this article:

My question is, how do I modify XP so that it transfers control to bootmgr.exe instead of ntldr.exe? Can anyone help on exactly what happens when you have a dual boot and XP is your main drive? I'm interested in knowing how XP knows about the Vista boot menu.

I originally had XP Home installed but I wanted to boot both XP and Vista, so I created a second partition and installed Vista Ultimate on the second. It seemed to work ok; I was able to choose between Vista and XP when I turned the computer on....

I was using the grub bootloader for my triple boot vista / xp /ubuntu system. It is possible to adjust the grub bootloader to provide it with an image (for a graphical background while showing the bootloader).
But the problem with grub is that you cant choose xp or vista directly from the grub bootloader, it goes to the vista bootloader to let you choose between vista or xp.
Now I found a solution to use the Vista bootloader for all 3 OS to directly boot from (which saves me a hit on the enter key 
). This is working great and I'm currently still using the Vista bootloader.
