boot windows xp

No restore points at all

Hi, I have a dual boot windows xp and Vista home premium. I have a raid 0 setup with a partition for each operating system. I'm aware that booting into XP will remove the restore points from Vista. However, even without booting into XP, Vista will not automatically create a restore point. I can manually create a restore point, but if I reboot the system, it is gone. Is this normal behavior? I thought the restore points would only be removed if I actually booted into XP.
