Does anyone know they can speed up their computer by using the systems configuration utility?
You have to know what you are doing, but you can speed up the boot time by removing unnecessary startup programs.

What is your VISTA boot time?
From cold start:
55 seconds to Password Screen -
10 seconds to Desktop -
20 seconds to Sidebar [3 gadgets]
85 seconds Total
Be honest, but I'm sure there are better out there.
Hi all,
Apologies if this has been done to death, but I can not find anything similar in the archives...
I am experiencing long delays (5 -7 minutes) when booting my PC now I have upgraded to Vista. The PC should be more than capable of running Vista, and a virus check and update of all drivers seems not to resolve the problem.
There are two interesting things that I have noted when checking the application event log.
1. Winlogon is reporting a significant delay (x2 messages):
"The winlogon notification subscriber is taking long time to handle the notification event (Logon)."
