Windows Vista was supposed to be pre installed on my new acer but it doesnt run, a blank screen comes up and nothing happens even after three hours...seems to be a boot problemplease help
I use Gmail as my default E-mail program, so I wanted easy access on the desktop. So I dragged the little picture from the Url bar onto my desktop. When I double clicked it Firefox opened a new tab and gave me a blank page with this in the Url bar. file:///C:/Users/Tadd/Desktop/Gmail.url (My name is Tadd). It also said done in the bottom left hand corner. So I tried making a internet shortcut by right clicking, I got the same result. So for the hell of it I tried it in the quick launch bar. With E207WFP, unable to set a resolution of 1680x1050, it goes to a blank screen, in vista Ultimate
ive been using vista premium for about 4 months and ive recently had a problem it takes firefox 15 secs for it to open all i get is a blank screen for 15 secs then i get my homepage. anyone have a similar problem or know how to fix it?

Prior to buying Vista Home Premium, I upgraded to new motherboard, new CPU (Intel Core 2 e6600), new video card, big power supply, 4GB ram...well, an entire new computer. I ran the pre-install advisor and removed a couple of programs as recommended.
First I tried the upgrade path from Windows XP Media Center Edition...wanting to keep my software and settings in place. The install started out OK...I saw a message on screen that said this could take several hours, so I went away...and came back the next morning. I had a blank screen and and no activity from the computer...just fan noise. I powered down and re-booted...same result. Again I reboot and choose windows install at the final screen...get the message that the install failed - and went back to XP.
All of a sudden Vista is not booting up past the logo screen (with the green animated progress bar). Actually, it goes into blank screen mode after 1-2 minutes and nothing happens ever after that.
Worst yet, even the Vista Ultimate CD (which I used originally to install, twice before) is NOT loading past the same screen (logo)! it first goes through the 'loading windows files...' then boots to the logo screen and nothing happens for several minutes!
I also tried booting in safe mode, it goes through the scrolling of loading files and always gets stuck on crcdisk.sys file
