Quick Summary: can't connect to internet but everything else works fine. most likely registry problem after using CCleaner. can't get into safe mode (gives only options to select device to boot up windows when F8 is hit). registry backup will not load in normal mode (states it cant import b/c keys are open by system or other process).

Everything was going fine when I decided to clean the registry with CCleaner version 1.39.502. I backed up the registry via the CCleaner backup utility. I cleaned the internet cache and the registry. It stated that there were 449 errors in the registry and that removing them would free up a total of 441 mb of space. I found that odd, but for whatever dumb reason, I continued on. CCleaner "fixed" all of the errors.

I have the intel core 2 duo e6600 2.40ghz and it is good but when i look in my bios it says it has a 9x multiplier and it is set to 9 but when i go into windows and use a program like cpu-z it says it is only running at 6x, i may be acting stupid...

I tried updating the BIOS, i put file onto a bootable floppy, but when it started to load the file it was about done when it said, file cannot be loaded. Tried this about 10-20 times w/ redling the BIOS over and over =\. No idea what to do now

I have a Sony VAIO laptop (VGN-C190P) and received the express upgrade kit for Windows Vista Business. I inserted the CD, followed the instructions and proceeded to install. After the BIOS was updated it took me to a screen where it said installation files were being copied; it was not actually installing Vista yet. Every time, at the exact same place, I received an error message that read "an unknown error has occured while searching for an unnamed file." The title bar read, "irsetup." I reset the BIOS to factory defaults and tried again but nothing changed. Every time I try, I get the same error message at the exact same place and the process does not go any farther.
