Vista Home Premium and Ultimate?

I have windows vista home premium and I was wondering whats the big difference between that and vista ultimate? Should I upgrade? I have an hp pavilion 6k series with
100gb hd space
1gb of ram
2ghz amd turion 64 mobile processor
nvidia graphics 288mb shared

I dont know if Ultimate effects any of that(probably doesnt)
But I just posted that just uncase it needed some system requirements
I do photo and video editing, planning to get another gb or ram later

High CPU Idle when Ethernet is plugged in

I recently noticed that my CPU idle is quite high and is consistently between 20-30% even when I am not using the computer even after a fresh restart. I have found that it is the System process (not the System Idle proces) which is hogging 20-29% of my CPU.

I used msconfig to disable all startup programs and non-Microsoft services. Upon restart this is what my CPU usage looked like after letting the computer sit for 5 minutes without touching it:

I just installed Windows Vista Premium Home Edition today and I have no sound. I ran a dixdag so I could see what my sound card was but it said I don't have one. Before the upgrade I had sound now I have none. How do I fix this?
