I was just reading about overclocking and was wondering whether it is worth it?
What are the risks etc?
Im all for speeding up my computer but dont want to damage it.
Is it safe? Shall I do it?

I even tried closing all my gadgets, task manager still says sidebar.exe is using 520MB of memory. I have 3GB of memory so its not slowing down my system, but this makes no sense.
I closed sidebar and opened it again and it is only now using 22MB. but if i leave it for a while it will go back to 520MB.
I got a new PC and it displays my 4gb ram as 3gb and apparently a lot of people have been having this problem and I want everyone to share their views on this.
Basically when I enquired most people said that the Intel core 2 duo chip sets don't have the correct driver to recognise the 4gb ram in your system but they will be bringing it out soon. I asked if my 1gb of non-recognisable ram was being used but the engineers said that it was being used for kernel addresses (or addressing i cant remeber) so it was actually being used by my graphics card etc, so once I run vista, 1gb is being used by kernel addresses, about 1gb is being used by vista and i only have 2gb left

I have a ASUS M2n-SLI Deluxe Mobo with a BFG 7600GT Video card. In BIOS there is a PCIE Clock frequency ranges from 100 mhz and on down....what should this be set at for maximum performance?

I upgraded from 2GB of memory to 4GB of memory in my Vista x64 gaming rig and experienced a bunch of problems.
First, my machine only recognized 3GB of the installed 4GB. A friend told me to fix this I just had to enable mapping around the hardware memory hole. And that worked as far as the machine would recognize that 4GB were installed. Although right away there were a bunch of other problems. It caused popping in my speakers and didn't recognize a lot of my hardware such as my microphone, printer, and sound drivers. Also the index score for memory went from 5.2 with my 2GB to a 4.0!
i have 3gb of memory. i have a 500 gb hard drive. i have a (fast) dual core processor. i have an amazing (arguably the best at the moment) graphics card.
It seems that everyday i have one less gb like today in the moring i have 40.3gb and right now i have 39.6gb and i havent add any programs or did pretty much anything. I did a full scan and no spyware or virus. Is there anybody having the same problem also i turned the system restore feature off
Hey all, first post. I just got a whole new PC with Vista a few days ago and wanted to upgrade my mem to 3gb from the 1gb (2x512) they already had installed. I bought a kingston 1gb pci4200 ddr2 stick, installed it, turned on the PC and it ran perfectly at 2gb. Then when I tried to install a Kbyte 1gb pci4200 ddr2 stick (which I had in my previous PC) Vista couldn't boot up...just kept getting to the "Microsoft Windows" black screen and then would restart...I could boot it in safe mode and it said I had 3gb installed but eventually it would freeze up or restart itself without giving a reason why...
Say I have 1 GB of RAM and I got vista. Then I plugged in a new 2 GB Flash Drive and used it with readyboost to speed up my computer. Would I then have 3GB of RAM?
