1GB RAM Home Premium+Ready Boost

Hello,

Well still within my budget I managed to find a good computer with 1GB RAM + Home Premium. It's a Compaq but it has gotten good reviews and I know someone who has it and they like it. I don't do much online that would take up RAM but I do want to turn off the special effects like AERO to save resources, does it give you this option? And also I know Ready Boost isnt an alternative to RAM but does it really speed up your computer?

Windows Aero with ATI RADEON X1650 PRO ?????
I have just got an ATI RADEON X1650 PRO (AGP Version) for Windows Vista and my WEI scores for graphics are still under 2.0 which surely cant be right.

The website for the X1650 says it is fully Windows Vista and Aero compatible but because of my low score I cant turn it on. I also cant open Windows Movie maker or DVD Creator.

If anyone else has got this graphics card on Windows Vista or has had this problem can you post info here please, Thanks

Just a quick note to all those that have been fobbed off by Acer, I have found a link to their utility/Driver downloads - here - http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/downloads.html - then choose your model..this is only today I think as I could not find any vista link last night - good luck.

rumour has it....
rumour has it that vista will scan your computer randomly to check if u have any bootleg stuff.... im just asking if this is true or not!
Removing Old Windows XP Files
Good Afternoon Everyone. This is my first post. I am sure that this has been answered already but I can't find it. What I would like to know is:- Can I remove Windows.old files and Directory which takes up 6.2GB on my C:/ drive . This the Old Windows XP installation.Or should I burn it to a DVD and save it for future use? I wish I had known about this forum before I bought my copy of Windows Vista Home Premium here in the Unite Kingdom.
Cost to us in the UK £150 for the upgrade. I have read with interest the article on Clean install and yes this does I am sure breaks the EULA but
when you see the cost it is not at all suprising that some will go this route. However back to my problem any help full person out there I need you.
LAN HDD
Hi Everyone great forum

I have just upgraded from XP Pro to Vista Home premium so far so good, great like the feel quick.
However i have an LAN HDD with 2 folders on, one with my backup's & the other with my family's backups.
I type in the Run \\backups and i see the folders? However this is where the problems start. I get in to the dir see all the backup's but when i click on the folder's it does not do anything? Is this a sharing problem can anyone point me in the right direction? How can i resolve this problem...
Any surgestion would be great.
