I have read losts of posts about Vista installed on a partition or XP on a Vista machine but I can't find any with my exact problem?

I have XP pro installed on my Seagate 80GB drive and have now installed Vista Premium on my 40gb Maxtor Drive. If I change boot order in bios then can start both XP and Vista ok.

I then used Vistabootpro on the Vista machine and now when I boot the Vista drive get a list of Vista or XP. Boots into Vista fine but when I try XP I get error message about unable to find boot.ini file?. I think it looking at the wrong drive for the boot.ini file? One funny thing is both Operating Systems think they are drive C and label the other drive D and vise versa?

I had a dual-boot on 1 hard disk, one on C: is XP and other one on E: is Vista but I had hide drive letter E on the xp when I am on xp. But, how can I hide drive letter C on the vista when I am using vista. I had tries vista manager to hide driver letter but it doesn't work.

Anyones know to hide drive letter from xp C: on vista running. I don't to want to see C drive letter when vista start up.

Just like it says. I got Vista Ultimate today, installed it, then went to install my Maxtor One Touch III USB 2.0 since all of the drivers for my hardware is on there. At first it didnt detect the drive, then I turned the drive off and back on, then it detected it. Windows installed the driver for the backup drive and I was good to go. I got to install one thing off of the drive, I had to reinstall my computer after that. When my computer came back on the dirve wouldnt connect again. I dont get it? Its like Vista has something that is blocking the hard drive. The maxtor program says their is no drive connected when their is. Thanks in advance.

I have XP Pro SP2 on this machine and Vista (I installed it on a second partition)...ran the setup through Windows, so Vista is on "drive" V: now.

Even in Vista everythings running under drive v: so I'm guessing Microsoft is not forcing us to use drive c: anymore.

What I want to know is, how do I get rid of XP Pro without messing up my system? It is currently on my c: drive. In the boot menu I have 2 options, so I don't want to damage this either. Also I want to resize my c: partition and mix it with v: so it will be just one big partition again.

All the applications I've installed went to v:\program files\
